This decisive leadership role offers the opportunity to join Cornwall’s highly rated Children’s Service and shape the next stage of our development. Our innovative, integrated vision for Cornwall’s children offers a new way of working which will transform the impact of schools and education across Cornwall – and in turn, transform outcomes for our children.
You will work with all schools and providers to improve the educational outcomes for children, young people and adult learners. The Service Director for Education is one of four senior roles that comprise Together for Families - the Council’s Integrated Children’s Services Directorate. As a member of the Council Leadership Team, you’ll be an advocate for improving education across all of our communities and for the related impact on quality and quantity of life.
While it’s essential that you’re completely at home presenting to school leaders, success in our new integrated model will require you to perform in a range of settings and will demand closer working with social care and NHS colleagues.
It’s important that our new Service Director truly believes in our One Vision Partnership Plan and in the benefits that integration can bring. However, it is equally important that you are strong enough to make your own mark, to help us shape the fundamental role that schools and education will play in our integrated vision.
You may have held a school leadership role in the past or have followed another professional route in education. However, it is imperative that you understand, not only the schools agenda, but also the wider children’s services agenda.
You’ll be both a team player and leader. Being able to influence and build strong relationships is a prerequisite for this role. You’ll be incredibly passionate about the challenge that this role brings - to be a key player in Cornwall’s new, integrated model for Children’s Services, shaping our newly formed directorate, Together for Families.
If you have what it takes to deliver on a demanding, change-driven, high profile role where you have the scope to shape the future for our children and young people, we’d love to hear from you.
